Through my project, Days in the Neighborhood, I invite viewers into a world of playful girlhood, capturing the naive spirit of youth through compositions that emphasize the act of play. Using myself and another young adult model, I reconstruct moments inspired by memories of childhood. We stage activities such as drawing with sidewalk chalk, swinging on the playground, and other pastimes of my early years. I'm careful to compose the photographs, leaving out the parts of us that reveal our true ages. This project is a way for me to address the gaps in my memories from my formative years. By revisiting these seemingly innocent and carefree moments, I step away from adult pressures into an idealized and constructed version of what I want to remember.
